8/9/2019 0 Comments The FIDF Israel RideWhile serving A Cap, Inc. as chairman, accomplished business executive Jay Zises has provided the company with leadership and oversight in providing investment management advice. In addition to his business involvements, Jay Zises is also involved in charity works such as his support of the Friends of the Israel Defense Forces (FIDF).
FIDF was established to promote the well-being of the members of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). Founded in 1981 by holocaust survivors, FIDF offers cultural, educational, recreational, and social services to inspire Israeli soldiers who protect Israel and the Jews worldwide. One particular activity that FIDF promotes is the Israel Ride, which will happen November 2 - 5, 2019. The FIDF Israel Ride provides an exhilarating bicycle tour to riders. The event is an opportunity for participants to enjoy the beauty of the sights in Israel, visit military installations, and to personally experience the historical background of Israel. But the most exciting part of the tour is the opportunity for participants to ride alongside wounded IDF veterans who share their stories and experiences. As in the past, the veterans' stories have encouraged and inspired the riders in this unique tour. On the first day, participants have the chance to spend time along the beautiful shores of the Mediterranean. The second and third days will feature a two-day special adventure. By the fourth day, the riders start from the top of Mt. Shlomo and enjoy the scenic road, which offers views of Eilat, Sinai, and the Negev, ending in the Shifazon area.

Jay Zises, an investment and finance executive in New York City, divides his time between helping high-net-worth clients manage their investment activity and supporting charitable and community organizations. Jay Zises supports the Environmental Defense Fund (EDF), which is dedicated to addressing environmental challenges facing people around the world. To complete its work, the EDF relies heavily on the partnerships it forms with other companies and groups. In January 2019, the organization announced a new partnership with Tyson Foods, Inc., created with the goal of furthering Tyson’s sustainability strategy as well as meeting the growing demand for sustainable food. The main project will help Tyson achieve its land stewardship goal by scaling agriculture practices for corn. In doing so, the EDF will improve water quality, reduce greenhouse gas emission (GHG), and improve farmer profitability. At first, these changes will only affect about 500,000 acres of corn, but it will be expanded to two million acres of corn by 2020. The new project will use cloud-based technologies from Farmers Business Network (FBN) and MyFarms to collect agricultural production information from farmers. By analyzing this data, farmers can learn about new practices to boost sustainability. Offering strategic investment management services to high-net-worth individuals, Jay Zises serves as the chairman of A Cap, Inc., in New York City. Beyond dispatching his professional obligations, Jay Zises supports several Jewish organizations, including Israel Bonds. Focused on supporting investments in Israel, Israel Bonds has sold more than $42 billion in bonds since its establishment in 1951. In November 2018, Israel Bonds joined with the South Palm Beach County Community to hold the organization’s Fifth Annual Unity for Israel Reception. With a record-breaking group of 560 people, the reception brought together rabbis and congregants from a dozen area synagogues. Attuned to the diverse group, rabbis from the three different sects of Judaism (Orthodox, Reform, and Conservative) led the group in prayer. During the reception, Florida’s Chief Financial Officer, Jimmy Patronis, received recognition for increasing Florida’s holding of Israel bonds by more than 50 percent. Additionally, Major General Michael Edelstein, Israel’s Defense and Armed Forces Attache to the United States, addressed the crowd. The chairman of the New York City-based investment firm A Cap, Inc., Jay Zises possesses nearly 50 years of experience in the financial services industry. Aside from his professional accomplishments, Jay Zises is a community leader who serves on the boards of various nonprofit organizations, including a past position on the Board of Directors of Housing Enterprise for the Less Privileged (HELP) USA. HELP USA is currently engaged in a comprehensive renovation of the site of the former Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC. The former military hospital is being transformed into an affordable housing development for formerly homeless veterans and their families. As part of the renovations, HELP USA is constructing a therapeutic courtyard. For those wishing to make a gift in honor of a veteran, family member, or friend to help fund the renovations, there are a number of dedication opportunities available. For instance, a $10,000 gift gives the donor the chance to honor someone on a custom, wooden sign above a planting bed, while a $5,000 gift allows the donor to have the name inscribed on a dedication plaque on one of more than a dozen trees. Other dedication opportunities range from $2,500 for a table and chairs to $50,000 for the full courtyard. Since 1991, business executive Jay Zises has served as the chairman of A Cap, Inc., an investment management firm. Outside of his work, Jay Zises is actively involved in various New York-based community organizations, including Housing Enterprise for the Less Privileged, or HELP USA.
Established in 1986, HELP USA is a nonprofit that helps veterans, low-income families, and others obtain permanent housing. The organization has secured housing for more than half a million people across the eastern US. In May of 2018, HELP USA completed 77 affordable housing units in Washington, DC. The majority of these homes will include health and support services for veterans who have been homeless for long periods of time. The new housing development is located in a rehabilitated building on the grounds of the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. The construction costs of nearly $18.5 million were financed in part by the Department of Housing and Community Development in Washington, DC. The project is one of several affordable housing initiatives launched by the mayor of Washington, DC, Muriel Bowser. Jay Zises, a New York businessman who has been part of the finance and investment scene since the 1960s, supports many medical charities. The Susan G. Komen Foundation, an organization that seeks to end the threat of breast cancer, has received considerable support from Jay Zises over the years. While Susan G. Komen fundraisers are well-known, not everyone who supports the organization knows where the money goes. The Susan G. Komen Foundation often disburses these funds to support clinical trials through research grants, thereby increasing the breadth of options available for treating breast cancer patients. Since its inception, Susan G. Komen has supported hundreds of clinical trials for cancer treatments. The research interests the Susan G. Komen grants support are broad. Early detection methods, identification of causes, and new drug treatments for breast cancers comprise just some of the types of trials that receive grant money from the organization. In addition to improving the quality of treatment in the long run, these clinical trials also provide those who have breast cancer with a greater sense of agency regarding their treatment and a sense that they are still able to help others. Jay Zises, the chairman of A Cap, Inc., in New York City has volunteered with many charitable organizations over time. Jay Zises has volunteered at the Episcopal Church of the Heavenly Rest's network of soup kitchens and food pantries, helping address the problem of hunger in his community. Heavenly Rest uses a multifaceted approach to address the issue of hunger. While the Church operates a network of more than a thousand soup kitchens and food pantries, that is not the organization's only solution. One program Heavenly Rest uses is its Grace-to-Go meals, which are shelf-stable, ready-to-cook meal kits that can be distributed to those in need when food pantries are closed. These meals can be easily distributed through Heavenly Rest's many partners. One Heavenly Rest partner, an elementary school called P.S. 30, has also implemented a snack and story time event that targets young people struggling with hunger. This snack and story time event occurs every Friday, thereby ensuring that at least one day a week these young people learn about healthy eating habits while getting access to healthy foods. Finally, Heavenly Rest has expanded the number of programs that allow public access to its kitchens. During these events community members make baked goods, such as bread and cookies, together. Jay Zises leverages more than four decades of experience in the financial services and investment industry in his work as the chairman of A Cap Inc Investment Management. The former chairman of the executive committee of Integrated Resources Inc., Jay Zises is also a philanthropist for social causes and has served as a board member for the Housing Enterprise for the Less Privileged (HELP) organization. Founded in 1986, HELP provides housing, jobs, and other social services to individuals in New York, Washington, DC, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. The organization, which ultimately seeks to end homelessness and empower needy individuals, also operates Street Soccer USA (SSUSA). SSUSA utilizes the principles of team and sports to strengthen communities and improve the well-being of marginalized youth and young adults. Founded almost 10 years ago, the program has provided services to 3,750 participants. In addition, SSUSA has provided equipment for thousands of participants each year, successfully trained coaches, and hosted the Street Soccer USA Cup event. Moreover, the program has taken 16 players to compete in the Homeless World Cup, which involves 64 countries. As chairman of A Cap Inc Investment Management in New York, Jay Zises provides hedge fund and other investment services for high-net-worth individuals. Outside of his professional work, Jay Zises actively supports a number of charitable organizations, including Public Color. A design-based development program, Public Color helps to prepare high school students for college and career. Through the program, at-risk students are recruited to take on paint projects at their schools. Students gain experience with color, design, and critical thinking while also gaining real-world skills and a sense of community. Public Color also offers a Summer Design Studio program in which students take part in product design projects that also help them learn literacy skills and mathematics. Moreover, the program is held at the Pratt Institute to give students a taste of college, and students gain employment experience through painting local facilities. Additional information on Public Color and the Summer Design Studio is available at publiccolor.org. Jay Zises leads the New York City-based A Cap, Inc., with more than four decades of experience in the financial sector. Jay Zises also supports Friends of the Israel Defense Forces (FIDF), which helps finance the higher education of Israeli combat soldiers through its IMPACT! Scholarship Program. Financial challenges preventing Israelis from earning a college degree can limit their potential and deprive dedicated individuals from advancing their education, a fundamental value of Jewish culture. IMPACT! provides recipients with the necessary funds to pursue an education at an accredited Israeli institution and reach their full potential. Scholarships cover the cost of tuition and related expenses for four years of study. Additionally, recipients must complete 130 hours of community service during each year of study. Eligible individuals include combat and combat-support veterans from a disadvantaged socioeconomic background. An International Grant Committee consisting of Israeli university and IDF representatives, as well as business leaders from Israel and the United States, selects the scholarship recipients. Scholarship funds come from donors and charitable contributions, and the cost to fund one student for four years amounts to $16,000. |
