Since 1991, business executive Jay Zises has served as the chairman of A Cap, Inc., an investment management firm. Outside of his work, Jay Zises is actively involved in various New York-based community organizations, including Housing Enterprise for the Less Privileged, or HELP USA.
Established in 1986, HELP USA is a nonprofit that helps veterans, low-income families, and others obtain permanent housing. The organization has secured housing for more than half a million people across the eastern US. In May of 2018, HELP USA completed 77 affordable housing units in Washington, DC. The majority of these homes will include health and support services for veterans who have been homeless for long periods of time. The new housing development is located in a rehabilitated building on the grounds of the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. The construction costs of nearly $18.5 million were financed in part by the Department of Housing and Community Development in Washington, DC. The project is one of several affordable housing initiatives launched by the mayor of Washington, DC, Muriel Bowser.

As the chairman of investment management firm A Cap, Inc., Jay Zises’ focus includes the work of entrepreneurs in cloud security technology. A recent industry report found that the cloud platforms of many organizations are vulnerable to an array of security issues. Many of these lapses are the result of poor compliance with security standards and a lack of enforced security measures. Criminals are able to exploit these vulnerabilities to steal user data or utilize the system’s processing capacity to mine cryptocurrencies, an activity known as crypto jacking. Companies can reduce their exposure to these threats by frequently rotating cloud access keys, updating software, and monitoring users to identify unusual activity. Cloud technology is constantly evolving, but for some organizations, training all employees is not feasible. In these cases, it may be best to hire a qualified third-party to implement and monitor cloud security measures. |
