Since 1991, business executive Jay Zises has served as the chairman of A Cap, Inc., an investment management firm. Outside of his work, Jay Zises is actively involved in various New York-based community organizations, including Housing Enterprise for the Less Privileged, or HELP USA.
Established in 1986, HELP USA is a nonprofit that helps veterans, low-income families, and others obtain permanent housing. The organization has secured housing for more than half a million people across the eastern US. In May of 2018, HELP USA completed 77 affordable housing units in Washington, DC. The majority of these homes will include health and support services for veterans who have been homeless for long periods of time. The new housing development is located in a rehabilitated building on the grounds of the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. The construction costs of nearly $18.5 million were financed in part by the Department of Housing and Community Development in Washington, DC. The project is one of several affordable housing initiatives launched by the mayor of Washington, DC, Muriel Bowser.
